Paddle through the mangroves of Al Thakhira, swim off Purple Island, and end the day around a bonfire back at camp.
Enjoy mangrove kayaking with our tour guide. The meeting point is our camp in Al Thakhira, near Al Khor, which has a shaded traditional sitting area, bathroom and changing room, and refreshments including water, tea and Arabian food.
We begin with instructions and a briefing about paddling, and you'll be provided with all the necessary equipment for kayaking and safety. Your guide then starts the tour — around 1 hour 30 minutes in the water, roughly 2 hours of paddling in total through the mangroves, heading to Purple Island itself.
A break of about 20 minutes to swim and explore the island, before heading back to camp.
After the tour, we head back to camp for a bonfire, volleyball and African drumming.
